Communities
Which communities are we working with?
This project is working with a number of communities to help build a picture of the diverse environments that therapeutic residential settings could be and were. The five communities have been chosen specifically because of their established links to the Planned Environment Therapy Trust and because the Archive already holds some information about or material from these places.
It is by no means limited to these communities alone, however, and we are always interested to hear from other people with experience of similar environments. The core communities are:
Wennington School
The Caldecott Community
Shotton Hall
There is also ongoing interest from members of the Mulberry Bush community, the Cotswold Community and
Barns Hostel School.
It is difficult to generalise about these communities as each had it's own particular ethos, and way of working that sets it apart. For more information about each unique place follow the menu links to go to that communities individual site - a place for each community to document, record and comment on it's own history, as well as a place for others to learn about this neglected area of our heritage.
Please also take a look at the 'What We Do' section of this site to find out more about the kinds of activities and projects we are working on with our community participants.
