The Mulberry Bush School in Oxfordshire is an internationally recognised therapeutic environment for children, founded in 1948 by Mrs. Barbara Dockar-Drysdale, with the support of her husband Stephen. Influenced by and influencing the eminent child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott, Mrs. Dockar-Drysdale (1912-1999) continues to inspire child care workers through the clarity of her writing, the incisiveness of her insight, and the warmth of her engagement with children and staff, evident in her books and articles and in the memories of those who knew her. On October 19, 2012, the Mulberry Bush Organisation celebrated the life of Mrs. Dockar-Drysdale at its AGM, with talks about Mrs. Dockar-Drysdale from two former directors of the School, Dr. Christopher Reeves and Richard Rollinson. These can be heard by clicking on the links below. Current CEO John Diamond speaks briefly about the current work of the School, and its vision for the future. |
